Lgbt Bullying Essay Bullying and Harassment among the LGBT Youth ââ¬Å"Gay, Bi, Straight but still human. â⬠They tell you to be yourself and then they judge you. I strongly believe we all should be equal: gay, Bi or straight shouldnââ¬â¢t matter. Bullying the kids that are different from you based on sexual orientation is just wrong. LGBT bullying destroys a person. Bullying a gay kid leads to academic failure, loss of identity and of course violence. Stop making people feel bad for liking things that make them happy. Lesbian, Gay, Bi, transgender kids shouldnââ¬â¢t be bullied. One in five LGBT people skip school because they fear of being bullied. LGBT kids tend to skip school more than straight kids. Why? Because LGBT kids are being severely bullied. They become so intimidated that when itââ¬â¢s time for class they skip. Avoiding the situation and presence of the bully. There are about 282,000 students that are reportedly attacked in high schools throughout the nation each month. Being bullied causes bad grades and even failure in class. Bad grades can do a lot of damage. Gay bullying statistics, teens reported that the number two reason they are bullied is because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender expression. Being bullied can impel to kids to become anti-social, not having any friends. Being a loner distant from everyone else. Forcing an image unto their mind that itââ¬â¢s not ok to be a LGBT kid. This makes them feel like nobody cares about them. Have you ever been invited to a party and knew no-one? Everyone having fun while you just sit and watch? Yeah, well thatââ¬â¢s how LGBT kids feel all the time while being harassed and bullied. Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands? Calling them all types of nasty names such as, Fairy, fag, queer, Homo, gay, bitch, ECT. Words hurt! They hurt someone so much it causes depression, which can lead to suicide, thinking it will take the pain away. Numerous studies have shown that lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth have a higher rate of suicide attempts than do heterosexual youth. The Suicide Prevention Resource Center synthesized these studies and estimated that between 30 and 40% of LGBT youth. Why should someone feel so sad they think itââ¬â¢s ok for them to take their own life away? 81% of LGBT kids were verbally harassed because of their sexual orientation. And 38. 3% were physically harassed because of sexual orientation. Bullies feel type of power: bigger, stronger and better. People have no idea how long something they say can stay in oneââ¬â¢s mind. LGBT kids get bullied all the time. They feel is a boy likes another boy thatââ¬â¢s wrong and weird and therefore they get picked on. Why should it matter to you if someone likes the same gender as them? How is this affecting you so much you bully them for it? When you bully someone it makes them question if they deserve to be alive and whatââ¬â¢s wrong with me? LGBT Bullying Statistics: * 9 out of 10 LGBT students have experienced harassment at school. * LGBT teens are bullied 2 to 3 times as much as straight teens. * More than 1/3 of LGBT kids have attempted suicide. * LGBT kids are 4 times as likely to attempt suicide then our straight peers. * LGBT youth with ââ¬Å"highly rejectingâ⬠families are 8 times more likely to attempt suicide than those whose families accept them. LGBT kidââ¬â¢s self-esteem can drop very low due to being bullied. Got them feeling like a piece of garbage. Constantly being judge for being themselves. Society doesnââ¬â¢t realize that everyone is the same no matter what race, gender or sexual orientation. Some just donââ¬â¢t see that and words can hurt someone a lot. Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no oneââ¬â¢s definition of your life, define yourself. And ignore the people whoââ¬â¢s talking behind your back, thatââ¬â¢s where they belong, behind you. Bullying is never right!
