In The Odyssey and Ramayana, the authors depict the characters through the eyes of their culture and civilization. In both works, the representation of men and women reflects an ideal that was sought after at the time. Particularly, the texts focus on the relationships between the main characters and the religion, as well as the main character and their familial ties. In The Odyssey, there is Athena and Odysseus while in Ramayana, there is Rama and Sita. Both Athena and Sita represent the idealistic woman which base their actions and thoughts off of their emotions. Having played soccer my entire life, my decision to play football in my senior year was rather bold. It came after several months of hard thought, and recognizing the fact that my teammates on the soccer team were not people I liked. So, I hung up my soccer spikes and put on a helmet and shoulder pads. The day before summer practice started, my father asked whether I was scared, to which I replied, How can I be scared of something I dont know. Having uttered that remark, I realized that I am not afraid of the unknown, something that has not always been true. When I was ten, I received news that my father had been transferred, and my family and I were moving to London, England. This was big. I was a small-town kid from suburban New Jersey who barely knew where London was. I did not take kindly to the fact that I would be leaving the only place I had ever known as home. This led to mixed emotions, even though I had wanted nothing more than to move home for the previous several years, now I had begun appreciating my situation. LGBT Bullying Statistics: * 9 out of 10 LGBT students have experienced harassment at school. * LGBT teens are bullied 2 to 3 times as much as straight teens. * More than 1/3 of LGBT kids have attempted suicide. * LGBT kids are 4 times as likely to attempt suicide then our straight peers. * LGBT youth with â€Å"highly rejecting† families are 8 times more likely to attempt suicide than those whose families accept them. LGBT kid’s self-esteem can drop very low due to being bullied. Got them feeling like a piece of garbage. Constantly being judge for being themselves. Society doesn’t realize that everyone is the same no matter what race, gender or sexual orientation. Some just don’t see that and words can hurt someone a lot. Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life, define yourself. And ignore the people who’s talking behind your back, that’s where they belong, behind you.
